Enabling Wake from Suspend on Keyboard (Ubuntu)

This assumes a usb keyboard and mouse. Begin by identifying the usb interfaces that your keyboard and/or mouse uses. Open a terminal and”

cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

This showed my system has 4 usb interfaces none of which were enabled.

PCI0 S5 *disabled no-bus:pci0000:00
PEX0 S5 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.0
PEX1 S5 *disabled
PEX2 S5 *disabled
PEX3 S5 *disabled
PEX4 S5 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.4
PEX5 S5 *disabled pci:0000:00:1c.5
HUB0 S5 *disabled pci:0000:00:1e.0
UAR1 S3 *disabled pnp:00:08
IGBE S4 *disabled
USB0 S3 *disabled pci:0000:00:1d.0
USB1 S3 *disabled pci:0000:00:1d.1
USB2 S3 *disabled pci:0000:00:1d.2
USB3 S3 *disabled
US31 S3 *disabled pci:0000:00:1a.0

USE2 S3 *disabled pci:0000:00:1a.7
AZAL S5 *disabled pci:0000:00:1b.0

I assumed that my keyboard was one of the first 3 interfaces. To enable them:

sudo su
echo USB0 > /proc/acpi/wakeup
echo USB1 > /proc/acpi/wakeup
echo USB2 > /proc/acpi/wakeup

Then:

cat /proc/acpi/wakeup

PCI0 S5 *disabled no-bus:pci0000:00

USE2 S3 *disabled pci:0000:00:1a.7
AZAL S5 *disabled pci:0000:00:1b.0

Showed them enabled. I put the machine to sleep then struck a key and the system woke up. I’ve only tested this on Oeneric to date but I suspect it will work on other releases
